- House of Assembly approves 24 Special Advisers for Governor

Veteran broadcaster and journalist Dr Samuel Kolawole Oredipe has been reappointed as Director-General, New Media, to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri.
The appointment is with immediate effect.
Dr Oredipe, an Assistant Director of News at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, has changed the face of social media practice in the state with massive capacity training for the practitioners in the past 4 years.
Oredipe, dubbed “Niger Delta reporter”, has put over 24 years into journalism practice covering prints and electronic media.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).
Oredipe, a Development Communication expert is a leadership and management coach in the Junior Chamber International (JCI), a global organisation for young leaders and entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved the request of Diri to appoint 24 Special Advisers.
The assembly’s approval followed a letter from the governor requesting the appointment of these aides.
During the plenary session presided over by Speaker Abraham Ingobere, the letter, titled ‘Request for Approval for the Appointment of Special Advisers,’ was read on the floor by the Clerk of the House, Adogu Kent.
In the letter, Governor Diri stated, “I write to seek the approval of the House of Assembly for the appointment of 24 Special Advisers to the Governor.
“The purpose of the appointment is for effective governance and fulfilment of the vision of the prosperity of the state. “It is in accordance with the provision of Section 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.”
Member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 2, Edwin Obolo Bubou, moved the motion for the assembly’s approval of the governor’s request, which was seconded by his Southern Ijaw Constituency 3 counterpart, Hon Moses Marlon. They emphasized the necessity of the approval to provide legislative support to the government.
