The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on traffic violators across the state, leading to the prosecution of 68 offenders in Warri and Asaba.
The enforcement exercise, carried out in collaboration with seven designated judges and magistrates of mobile courts, formed part of efforts by the state government to curb rising traffic violations and improve road safety.
In statement , Delta state police public relations officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the offenders were arraigned before mobile courts in Warri and Asaba, as well as a magistrate court in Okwe, for various infractions.
“ These include: seven cases of unauthorised use of number plates, five for driving against traffic, 15 for operating vehicles without registration numbers and two for the illegal use of sirens and revolving lights.

“Others prosecuted include: 15 motorists for road obstruction, 13 for driving with covered number plates and 11 for driving without valid driver’s licences.”
The PPRO noted that vehicles with unregistered or concealed number plates are frequently used to commit crimes and evade security checks, stressing the need for strict enforcement.
“All the offenders were fined in line with provisions of the Delta State Traffic Management Law and the National Road Traffic Regulations.
“The command said it is strengthening collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Delta State Traffic Management Agency to ensure coordinated enforcement and enhance public safety on the roads.
“’ we urge motorists to comply with traffic regulations, properly register their vehicles and carry valid driver’s licences. The Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on traffic violations.”
