The police in Ogwashi-Uku Division of the Delta State Command have arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his brother to death while he was asleep.

The incident occurred on January 8, at Poly Road, by Adaigbo Filling Station.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed this yesterday, said that upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okoyomon, promptly mobilised detectives to the scene.

He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was allegedly stabbed by his brother, Aliyu Haman (male, 20 years).

Edafe said that the suspect was arrested and the weapon used in committing the crime recovered.

He said the deceased has since been evacuated and deposited at Odua Mortuary, Ogwashi-Uku, for autopsy, while the suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Raiders Unit of the police command, acting on credible intelligence, recorded a significant breakthrough on 8 January 2026 in furtherance of sustained intelligence-led efforts to curb the circulation of illicit substances.

The operation, according to Edafe, coordinated under the supervision of SP Akanya Agbogha, Commander of the Raiders Unit, led to the arrest of one Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso, 43 years.

He said that a professional search conducted on the suspect resulted in the recovery of 36 bottles of illicit drugs, popularly known as laughing gas.

Edafe said that the suspect and exhibits are currently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing to trace possible sources and distribution channels.

Equally, two suspected notorious armed robbers who specialise in snatching motorcycles from unsuspecting members of the public within Agbor and its environs have been arrested by the Agbor Division on 4 January 2026.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbor Division, CSP Michael Obekpa, led a team of operatives to arrest the suspects following a discreet investigation into a reported case of armed robbery on 24 December 2025.

The suspects, Owakwe Chuks, 37 years, and Bright Moses, 32 years, were arrested during the targeted operation.

Edafe disclosed that exhibits recovered from the suspects include one hammer used in inflicting injuries on victims, one brown face mask, one short knife, one handset, and one face cap.

In a related development, operatives of Ekpan Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Labe Joseph, while conducting confidence-building patrol along Hausa Market, Ubeji, sighted about five suspected hoodlums loitering within the market area in a suspicious manner.

According to Edafe, upon sighting the police team, the suspects took to their heels and fled in different directions.

He said that the operatives gave chase and, in the process, one Gift Ojulowo, 30 years, of New Layout, Ubeji, was apprehended.

One locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges, concealed inside his trousers, were recovered from the suspect.

He said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye cult group.

The suspect and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody, while preliminary investigation is ongoing. Efforts have been intensified to identify, track, and arrest other fleeing members of the gang for possible prosecution.

Edafe said that the achievements were recorded shortly after the assumption of duty of CP Aina Adesola as the new Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains his top priority, assuring residents that the command will pursue criminals decisively through intelligence-led operations and visible policing.
