The new Customs Area Controller for Kaduna Command, Comptroller Yakubu Salihu, has commended Kaduna Inland Dry Port (KIDP) for it’s modern infrastructure and cargo handling equipment to process import and export cargoes.

Salihu who made this remark during his first visit to the port commended Inland Containers Nigeria Limited (ICNL), parent company of KIDP for it’s transformational efforts on what used to be a bonded terminal many years back. He reassured the management of KIDP of cooperation and support at all times to promote ease of doing business and trade facilitaton. While applauding ICNL for making the facility more modern and expanding it to accommodate higher volume of trade, Salihu recalled that he had worked at the ICNL terminal many years back as a superintendent cadre officer. He added that the facility has undergone so much overhauling with improvements that would be of benefits to the country, investors and employees.

General Manager of KIDP, Rotimi Raimi-Hassan, who received Salihu and members of his entourage thanked him for the visit, which he described as very important in sustaining the good relationship between KIDP and Nigeria Customs Service. Raimi-Hassan said KIDP aside being  the first commissioned dry port in Nigeria, is also the most equipped to serve importers who’s cargoes are destined for Abuja, Kadun and other proximate northern states.

He said efforts are in top gear to ensure the full deployment of trade supporting technologies to process import and export in KIDP

He added that KIDP has done a lot of sensitisation of the business communities in Kaduna and environs on its value added services to importers, ahead of the commencementof DomesticExport Warehouse (DEW).
