The Cherubim and Seraphim Church has celebrated a historic century of divine influence, spiritual resilience  and unwavering community service, boldly declaring that its 100th anniversary is a clarion call for Nigeria to unite and rise above its crises.

On September 9, 2025, thousands of faithful, leaders and dignitaries gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, for the grand centenary celebration, themed “Centenary without boundaries,” a rallying cry for the church’s role in healing a nation battered by insecurity, division and despair. This milestone underscores the church’s journey from humble beginnings under founder, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase, to a spiritual powerhouse inspiring millions across Nigeria and beyond.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, lauded the church’s relentless commitment to societal upliftment through education, healthcare, and social welfare, affirming: “This church has been a beacon of hope in our community.”

Similarly, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, emphasized that Nigeria’s progress hinges on leadership rooted in humility and listening—qualities exemplified by the church’s steadfastness over the past century. He extolled the founder, Prophet Moses Orimolade’s exemplary leadership style that has sustained the church’s growth, emphasizing that listening and humility are vital qualities for today’s Christian leaders to emulate.

Adeleke added that as Nigeria and the world celebrate a hundred years of spiritual excellence, the Cherubim and Seraphim Church remains steadfast, inspiring millions to fear God and stand united under one faith.

Prelate Dr. David Bob-Manuel, the revered Baba Aladura, declared that the celebration is more than a reflection on faith, describing it as a rallying point for Nigeria’s spiritual revival and national unity. “Our journey isn’t just about celebrating 100 years — it’s about calling on Nigerians to embrace love, dialogue, and peace to overcome our greatest challenges,” he proclaimed passionately.

Thousands of members gathered, singing hymns of gratitude and hope, as the Prelate urged Nigerians to see the church’s centenary as a wake-up call. “This milestone is a testament to our faith’s power to transform lives, and today, I call on all Nigerians—regardless of faith or background—to unite under a common purpose: to heal and rebuild Nigeria,” he emphasized.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), praised Prophet Moses Orimolade Tunolase for revolutionizing Christian worship in Africa, stressing that love for God and neighbour remains the foundation for peace and national progress. “We pray for our President and Nigeria. Only through unity, prayer, and love can we turn the tide of insecurity and division,” he declared, urging Nigerians to come together in prayer and action.

Throughout the event, Dr. Bob-Manuel called on the church to be a voice of reason amid chaos, emphasizing the importance of nurturing Nigeria’s youth. “Our future depends on how well we invest in our young people—mentoring, educating, and guiding them,” he said, sharing personal stories of resilience and dedication.

As the celebration reached its climax, the Prelate’s words resonated deeply: “Our faith is a call to action. We must be the hands and voices of peace, unity, and hope for Nigeria.” His call was echoed by leaders from all sectors, emphasizing that the church’s centenary is a rallying point for national renewal.

Legendary music icon and proud Cherubim and Seraphim member, Sir Shina Peters, shared his personal testimony, revealing that he was in his mother’s womb for two and a half years when the church delivered his family. “I was born and bred in Cherubim and Seraphim, and I am proud to make our hymns popular worldwide,” he declared, urging the youth to stay united in faith and focus.

As the evening drew to a close, attendees left with a sense of optimism and a shared vision for a brighter future—one where peace, unity, and support for the youth reign supreme. In his centennial year, Dr. Bob-Manuel has not only celebrated a remarkable journey but has also ignited a fervent call to action for the community he has devoted his life to serve
