Cross River North Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has condemned the brutal murder of a Benue State indigene in his constituency.

Agage Ternenge, a young man from Benue State, was gruesomely stoned to death by irate youths in Obudu LGA of Cross River State in the wake of a land dispute involving Vandeikya LGA of Benue State and Obudu LGA of Cross River State.

Reacting to the incident, Senator Jarigbe said the murder is a tragic crime which must be met with the full wrath of the law.

“This senseless act of violence is not only barbaric but also completely unacceptable. The victim was an unarmed civilian going about his lawful business and had no connection to the ongoing communal tensions.

“His murder is a tragic and unjustifiable crime that must be met with the full wrath of the law.

“This communal clash must not extend beyond the disputed areas. Our people in Cross River North and Benue State have lived together for generations—intermarrying, trading, and coexisting peacefully.

“We must not allow the actions of a few criminals to destroy this longstanding harmony and put our people at risk,” Senator Jarigbe said.

Senator Jarigbe expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and assured the people of Tsar Community and all residents of Cross River North that he will work tirelessly with relevant stakeholders to ensure justice is served and peace is restored.

He called on all residents to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies restore order, saying retaliatory attacks will only worsen the situation and must be avoided at all costs.

He tasked security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act and ensure they face the full consequences of the law.
