Corona, a popular school in Lagos, has explained the decision for its recent ‘Catch them young’ package.

The school recently added the crèche, play school and after-school to its package. The move, it was learnt, was aimed at inculcating in the pupils the rudiments of early instructions that are necessary to avoid difficulties in assimilation as the child’s education progresses.

The school pledges to maintain quality learning that covers academics and morals, which it prides itself of. It explained that the importance of laying a sound foundation for a child’s total upbringing couldn’t be over-emphasised.

The expansion of services, according to the institution, comes  after the school has been instilling knowledge into young Nigerians from nursery to secondary school levels in the last 62 years.

The Chief Executive Officer of the school, Mrs. Adeyoyin Adesina, said Corona expanded its tentacles in response to the changing dynamics of the environment and needs of parents to have their babies and toddlers constructively engaged. She said the services would relieve the parents while they are at work or for an additional period after school hours, where the pupils would be taken through productive and supervised activities in a conducive and safe environment.

She explained that as a result of the institution’s experience and professional prowess, the new package was not a venture embarked upon haphazardly but with a detailed study and assessment of the landscape and alignment to established goals as an organisation.

She added that following the outcome of the school’s feasibility studies, it resolved that the new classes were areas that align with its vision and mission statements, and to which the institution could deploy its brand and expertise to produce students that would be beneficial to his family and the society at large.

The crèche, she said, would care for babies between the ages of three and 15 months and the play school will serve toddlers between 18 months and three years.  She informed that Corona’s After-school Enrichment Services (CASES) would run from 2.30pm to 6.00pm.

Throwing more light on available facilities for quality learning and that would make staying conducive for the children before they are picked by their parents, Adesina stressed that the school had established standards to maintain and would continue to consolidate on them.

“Therefore, parents and guardians should be assured that there are clearly defined structures according to pupils’ age, up-to-date facilities and qualified personnel that ensure all the schools are safe and conducive for care, play and learning,” she said.

While noting that Corona prioritises safety of students and staff, she said: “Established structures in our schools include documented policies and processes on health, safety and security. These are periodically tested and updated. Compliance is enforced and the entire school community – pupils, employees are educated and very familiar with health, safety and security procedures and emergency response and escalation channels.  We maintain necessary relationships with the government agencies charged with these responsibilities in the state to enhance our efforts.”
