Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced a logo crafting competition that will take place from April 19th to 26th. The call for submissions comes after the governor assented to a bill approving a new logo for the state.
According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, participants in the competition are requested to consider the prototype logo in terms of its contents and style when designing their entries. Submissions can be made in person, with both soft and printed copies, to the Office of the Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment. Alternatively, entries can be submitted online via email to [email protected] or [email protected], along with the designer’s bio-data and contact details. The subject of the email should be “OSUN STATE LOGO.”
However, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has criticised the new logo bill, describing it as a waste of taxpayers’ money that will have no significant impact. In a statement issued by the party’s chairman, Wale Adebayo, the APM expressed discontent with the logo project, stating that it diverts attention from more pressing issues.
“We, at the APM, align with the majority of the state’s population in saying that we are not impressed with the new logo project; it is simply a waste of taxpayers’ money. The people need leadership that can address their concerns, provide employment opportunities, and focus on solving their problems, rather than focusing on a logo. What has the administration done for the masses since taking office? Absolutely nothing. The people need effective leadership, contentment, and security in the state,” said Adebayo.
The differing viewpoints highlight a divergence in priorities, with the government emphasising the importance of a new logo for the state and the APM asserting that the funds could be better allocated to address the needs of the citizens.
