The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Alex Otti on Due Process, Dr Oluebube Chukwu has described Monday’s commissioning of Aba Power Plant as being in line with Otti’s vision for new Abia.

Speaking with newsmen in Umuahia, Chukwu said the commitment of Abia State government in the commissioning of the project shows that Governor Otti’s administration is being strategic and determined to ensure that the economy of the State is place on a global path.

Chukwu said the importance of electricity supply in the development of any society can not be overemphasized stressing that for Abia State Governor and his team to have worked assiduously behind the scenes to ensure its speedy commissioning by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu shows that the Governor is intentional and futuristic as well as committed to the business growth development in the State.

“Lack of electricity hampers economic growth and development, hence makes Small and Medium Scale businesses to struggle to operate efficiently and industrial activities are constrained , limiting job opportunities and internally generated revenue of the State.

“Electricity problem cripples businesses and this has been a major reason many investors are sceptical about investing in such environment.

“Poor power generation and distribution represents a major drawback for the individual growth and development leading to closure of industries as well as a rapid decline in the availability of social amenities.”

He added that the generation of electricity from the Aba power plant will be a game changer in the socio-economic development of Aba and the commissioning will bring about a dramatic improvement in power supply.

He stressed that with constant quality and affordable electricity supply soon the cost of doing businesses in the State will reduce significantly.

Chukwu, therefore applauded Governor Otti for the commissioning of such a laudable project and urged the Aba business community to embrace the enabling environment to boost their businesses and investments in the city.
