The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, has commended Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM for its consistent role as a dependable information hub, particularly in traffic reporting, safety awareness, environmental consciousness, and the promotion of cultural values among residents of the state.

Omotoso gave the commendation at the official flag-off of the 2025 Lagos Traffic Radio In-House Training Programme, themed “Empowering excellence: Building capacity for a greater Lagos.”

He was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Olarenwaju Bajulaye.

According to the commissioner, Lagos Traffic Radio has gone beyond routine traffic updates to become a vital public service platform that contributes to safer roads, environmental responsibility and informed citizenship across Lagos.

He noted that the theme of the training programme aligns with the state government’s commitment to excellence through strategic investment in human capital, stressing that quality public service delivery depends largely on continuous capacity building.

“The theme of this training is apt and timely. It reflects the understanding that excellence does not happen by chance but is achieved through deliberate capacity development and a sustained quest for improvement,” Omotoso said.

The commissioner reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting professional development initiatives across its agencies, describing capacity building as central to innovation, efficiency and effective governance.

He also praised the dedication and creativity of Lagos Traffic Radio staff, urging them to sustain high professional standards while embracing innovation, teamwork and strategic communication to meet the evolving demands of public service.

In his welcome address, the General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr Tayo Akanle, said the in-house training was designed to enhance both individual competence and collective performance within the organisation.

Akanle explained that the programme focuses on strengthening teamwork and reinforcing the station’s core values of discipline, integrity, accountability and collaboration, adding that excellence remains a continuous journey requiring consistent investment in people and systems.

He encouraged participants to actively engage in the training sessions and apply the knowledge gained to improve daily operations and service delivery, while appreciating the Ministry of Information and Strategy, facilitators and resource persons for their support.

The 2025 In-House Training Programme underscores Lagos Traffic Radio’s commitment to professionalism, capacity development and effective information dissemination in line with the vision of a safer, smarter and more sustainable Lagos State.
