The Coalition for Action and Good Governance in Nasarawa State has lauded Prof. Muhammad Sani Haruna for his contributions to vocational education and technological advancement in the state. The group highlighted his leadership in fostering skill acquisition, industrialization, and economic growth through strategic initiatives.
Speaking at a reception in Lafia yesterday, leader of the coalition, Muktar Ciroma, praised Prof. Haruna’s role as a governing council member of the Nasarawa State Vocational and Relevant Technology Skill Acquisition Board. According to him, Haruna’s efforts in shaping policies and programs for vocational training have been instrumental in building a skilled workforce in the state.
“Prof. Haruna’s commitment to technical education and skill acquisition has positioned Nasarawa as a hub for technological advancement,” Ciroma stated. “His initiatives have not only empowered individuals with practical skills but also contributed significantly to the economic growth of our state.”
Under his tenure as Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Haruna facilitated the establishment of key technological institutions in Nasarawa. Among them is the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia, designed to enhance mechanized farming and strengthen the agro-business sector.
“Through AMEDI, he has provided farmers with modern machinery, ensuring food security and sustainable agricultural practices,” Ciroma said. “This institute is a testament to his vision for revolutionizing agriculture and improving livelihoods.”

Additionally, Prof. Haruna championed the creation of the Solid Minerals Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (SOMMEDI) to harness Nasarawa’s mineral resources. The institute focuses on producing advanced mining equipment to enhance efficiency in the solid minerals sector.
In renewable energy, Haruna oversaw the establishment of the Solar Cell Production Factory in Gora. The project promotes local solar technology manufacturing, reducing dependence on imports and positioning Nasarawa as a leader in sustainable energy solutions.
His efforts also extended to skill development, with the creation of the North Central Zonal National Laboratory and Skill Development Institute in Keffi, awaiting commissioning. Similarly, he facilitated the construction of the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre in Agwada, Kokona LGA, aimed at providing vocational training to curb rural-urban migration.
“His leadership has created numerous job opportunities, transforming Nasarawa into an industrial and technological hub,” Ciroma emphasized. “We urge the government and other stakeholders to support and sustain these initiatives for long-term benefits.”
The coalition described Prof. Haruna’s contributions as a model of visionary leadership, calling on young professionals to emulate his dedication to education, technology, and national development.
