Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged citizens to use the Christmas season to reflect on shared humanity, unity, and the timeless values of love, compassion, and selflessness that bind people together across religious and ethnic lines.

In his Christmas message to Christians and residents of the state, Governor Fintiri described Christmas — the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ — as a season that signifies hope and salvation for a world in need of redemption. He noted that society would be better served if the virtues exemplified by the holy birth of Christ, particularly love for one another, were sincerely embraced and practised.

The governor extended warm felicitations to Christians and the entire people of Adamawa State, calling on them to express gratitude to God for His grace, provision, and protection bestowed on individuals, families, communities, the nation, and humanity at large.

According to him, the holy and festive season serves as a powerful reminder of the shared humanity and common values that unite people irrespective of religion or tribe. He acknowledged that Nigeria continues to grapple with severe security and economic challenges, but stressed that the enduring message of Christmas offers hope amid uncertainty.

Governor Fintiri said the luminous teachings of Christ continue to inspire resilience and possibility, emphasising that God’s unconditional love strengthens the people in difficult times and challenges everyone to be better citizens.

He encouraged residents to use the season to show generosity and compassion, especially to the less privileged, and to foster peace and harmony within their communities. “Let us share the gift of God’s love by giving of ourselves and supporting those in need. Let us love our neighbours as ourselves and lay the foundation for a fair, just, prosperous, and cohesive society,” he said.

The governor further called on citizens to embrace unity and leave behind discord, urging them to move forward together toward a better future for Adamawa State.

“From my family to yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas filled with joy and the fruits of family and friendship. As you celebrate safely and responsibly, may the season bring bountiful returns. God bless you all, and God bless Adamawa State,” he concluded.
