Founded in 2015 within the Celestial Church community, the gospel dance group has grown from a humble church ensemble into an internationally celebrated creative movement. Their signature style blends Afro-gospel rhythms, contemporary choreography, and celestial-inspired fashion — bringing faith, culture, and artistry to life in motion.
The Visionary Behind the Moves
At the heart of the group is Boliphy (Adekoya Bolanle Hannah) — dancer, choreographer, and creative director. Her passion for storytelling through movement has propelled Celestial Steppers to national and international acclaim.
“Our mission is simple — to spread the gospel through dance and show that art can glorify God just as powerfully as music or preaching,” says Boliphy.

Celestial Steppers’ rise from local church performances to global stages has been marked by numerous achievements:
• Trailblazer of the Year – Celestial Music Award (2022): Recognized for pioneering gospel dance ministry within the Celestial Church.
• Winner – Pepsi UEFA Champions League Dance Challenge (2023): Boliphy earned national victory and represented Nigeria at the UEFA Final in Istanbul.
• Gold Prize – K-Community Festival, South Korea (2024): The group triumphed against 49 participating countries, showcasing Nigerian creativity on a global platform.
From Lagos to London, Istanbul to Seoul, Celestial Steppers continues to prove that gospel artistry belongs on the world’s biggest stages.
