The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Akinola Damilare for allegedly impersonating military personnel.
In a Thursday statement, command spokesman, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the suspect, popularly known as General Don, was arrested at about 2:00 am on November 3 at Kajola, Elega, Abeokuta.
His arrest followed credible intelligence from a community leader and discreet surveillance by operatives of the command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit.
“Items recovered from him include a military face cap, three-quarter military trousers and four photographs depicting him in military uniform,” the statement reads in part.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s resolve to tackle impersonation and other criminal activities, urging residents to promptly report suspicious conduct.
“Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and determine whether others are connected to the case,” the command stated.
