The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, has declared that northern Nigeria will deliver more votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election than the entire South-West.

Yari made the claim on Thursday at the APC presidential campaign rally in Ekiti State, where he urged residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He said the North was prepared to mobilise support for the President across the country, insisting that Tinubu enjoyed strong backing in the region.

“We in northern Nigeria, Bola is more of us than you in Ekiti, than you in Ondo, than you in Oyo, than you in Osun, than you in Lagos,” he said.

“And a good reason. Bola Ahmed supported our children, supported our people to become number one citizens in this country up to three times.”

The former Zamfara State governor said the region was ready to support Tinubu in 2027 and would work towards securing votes for him across the country.

“We in the north, we are ready for Asiwaju 2027, and we are going to deliver him from A to Z,” he added.

Yari also challenged Ekiti residents to increase their support for the President, recalling that the state gave Tinubu 80 per cent of its votes in the 2022 presidential election.

He said the APC was targeting at least 800,000 votes from Ekiti in 2027, representing about 90 per cent of the votes it expects to secure.

“Last time, Asiwaju, as a candidate in 2022, asked you to vote for the governor, and you voted for him. And he requested to vote for him himself,” Yari said.

“Ekiti gave 80 percent. Today, out of 1,080,000 votes, and PVC collected over 900,000, I want to ask a question. This is my request, and by extension, of course, of the president to you. We are looking for 800,000 votes, representing about 90 percent.”

He attributed the party’s confidence in the state to what he described as Tinubu’s achievements, including investments in schools, universities, roads, education support for young people and women empowerment.

Yari also challenged opposition parties to explain how their policies would differ from those of the Tinubu administration.

Defending the government’s economic record, he cited what he described as reductions in inflation and food prices, urging Nigerians to give the President another opportunity.

He said the APC intended to campaign on its record in office rather than rely solely on political promises.

“As we promised Nigerians, we are going to campaign with our numbers, with what we have done for Nigerians. Based on that, Nigerians, we requested them to give us a second chance,” he said.

Yari added that the ruling party was ready to defend its performance and challenged opposition parties to present alternative proposals.

“If they have answers, we are waiting for their answers,” he said.
