The Cavista Technologies Hackathon continues to reach new heights, with its fourth edition concluding this past Sunday in a display of sheer technical prowess. Highlighting the event’s expansion, participation jumped to 200 students across five tertiary institutions. Ultimately, it was Team ByteBros from the Lagos State University (LASU) who rose above the field of 47 teams to secure the prestigious N2 million first-place reward.

In her welcome address, Oyebola Morakinyo, General Manager of Cavista Technologies, urged participants to push boundaries and embrace bold thinking. “Innovation thrives when we challenge assumptions and build solutions others only imagine. In a world where technology evolves at the speed of light, this hackathon creates a space for the visionaries who will define tomorrow,” Morakinyo stated.

Morakinyo further emphasized Cavista’s commitment to talent development, noting that the company actively seeks the “best and brightest” to join its ranks—individuals who embody innovative values and possess the confidence to tackle global industry challenges.

She noted that such platforms empower Nigerians to transform talent into solutions that fuel economic growth and enhance the nation’s creative ecosystem.

This year’s theme: “From Data to Prevention: AI as Your Health Partner,” focused on preventive health solutions leveraging Artificial Intelligence.

From the initial pool of competitors, the top 10 finalist teams were selected to pitch their innovative prototypes to a panel of expert judges.

Participating institutions included Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Lagos State University (LASU), Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech), Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), and the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

The highlight of the event was the announcement of winners with Team ByteBros from LASU coming tops and going home with N2 million prize money. The second-place winner was Team Mannalon from Pan-African University, (PAU) going home with a prize money of N1 million and Team Nibbles from Lagos State University of Science and Technology, (LASUSTECH) as third place winner with a prize money of N500,000.
