The Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) of the Lagos Archdiocese is set to tackle issues of drug and pornography addiction at its 11th annual conference, scheduled for August 9-10 at St. Gregory’s College, Obalende, Lagos.
The Lagos Archdiocesan Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria (LACMON) urged parents to be vigilant in monitoring their children’s exposure to drugs and pornography, highlighting the negative impact they have on society.
The conference will focus on strategies for overcoming the addictions and their detrimental effects on family life.
Mr. Kingsley Ekwem, chairman of LACMON, expressed concern over the damage caused by drug and pornography, noting its harmful impact on family values and societal stability. Ekwem emphasised that the conference aims to address these issues through expert guidance and support.
“We are dedicated to helping individuals overcome these vices and lead more productive and spiritually vibrant lives. Our goal is to foster healthy family environments, which in turn contributes to responsible citizenship and societal well-being.”
The conference will feature a range of activities, including a Holy Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Lagos Metropolitan See, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, with other priests. The event would draw over 7,000 attendees, including church adherents, educators, government officials, and business leaders. With over 6,714 participants already registered, the conference aims not only to raise awareness but also to provide practical resources for combating addiction and promoting positive change in family and societal contexts.
