The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has urged the University of Ibadan to comply with a Federal High Court judgment ordering the reinstatement of sanctioned student activists.

In a statement, the group called for the reinstatement of Ayodele Aduwo and Mide Gbadegesin, who were suspended for four semesters, and an end to what it described as the victimisation of Nice Linus.

The court, presided over by Justice N.E. Maha, nullified the disciplinary actions, affirming the students’ rights to freedom of expression.

CAPPA said the ruling should serve as a warning to institutions against suppressing peaceful student activism. The case followed a May 13, 2024 protest against fee hikes during a Students’ Union event.
