The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), at the weekend, in Abuja, elected new executive and directorate members.
Daniel Arowolo (OAIC Bloc) was elected National Chairman; Onajite Enunuaye (CCN Bloc) was elected National Vice Chairman; Nehemiah Nanmawa Micheal (CPFN/PFN Bloc)) was elected National Secretary; Joshua Jeremiah Dandaura (TEKAN-ECWA Bloc) emerged National Assistant Secretary; while Sanusi Samaila (CSN Bloc) was elected National Treasurer.
Similarly, Flora Raymond Yaute (TEKAN -ECWA Bloc) was elected the Director of Ecumenical and interfaith; Gbadegbo Emmanuel (OAIC Bloc) was elected Director of Education, Women and Youth Development; Ogunruku Mayowa Paul (CPFN/PFN Bloc) was elected Director of National Issues and Social Welfare; Samuel Olasemojo (CCN Bloc) emerged Director of Planning, Research and Strategy; while Egbure Augusta Edisemi (CSN Bloc) emerged Director of Legal and Public Affairs.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who was represented by the General Secretary of CAN, Prof. Samson Adetunji Fatokun, administered the necessary oaths to the new YOWICAN officials and also handed over the Certificate of Return to them.
In his remarks, the CAN President encouraged them to be exemplary in their leadership, and ensure that all members of the Association are involved in the activities of the association.
Above all, he asked them to seek the Face of God and His Wisdom in all their dealings so they could be properly and divinely guided in their actions.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Daniel Arowolo, thanked YOWICAN members for finding him and other newly elected executive members worthy to lead the Association this time.
He acknowledged the good work of his predecessor, Belusochukwu Enwere, and promised to continue the good work already begun, to deepen commitment to discipleship, evangelism, leadership development, social justice, and national transformation through the unchanging principles of the Gospel.
“I will work tirelessly with every stakeholder, denominational youth wings, faith-based organisations, government agencies. civil society organisations, and every well-meaning Nigerian, to ensure that YOWICAN remains a vibrant, relevant, and powerful voice for Christ in our generation.
“I pledge to listen, to serve, to unite, and to lead with humility. No one will be left behind. Every zone, every state, every local fellowship, every young man and woman who calls on the name of Jesus will find a place at the table. Together, we shall raise a generation of young Christians who are spiritually vibrant, intellectually sound, socially responsible. and nationally impactful,” he promised.
The immediate-past YOWICAN President, Belusochukwu Enwere, in his valedictory speech appreciated the support he received from members while he piloted the affairs of YOWICAN.

He said: “I assumed office with a vision to empower Christian youths across Nigeria to be agents of positive change. Over the past five years, we have organized numerous programmes and meetings, fostering collaboration and strategic planning among our leaders. I have represented YOWICAN at the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) Youth Wing and other key bodies, promoting religious tolerance, peace, unity, and sustainable development.”
He stated that YOWICAN has grown into a beacon of hope, empowering thousands of Christian youths to contribute to Nigeria’s development. “I pray for continued progress under incoming leadership, and urged all youths to shine brightly in service to God and country.
“As I step aside, I am optimistic about YOWICAN’s future. Our organization is poised for greater heights, with plans to expand digital youth engagement platforms, launch nationwide skill-building workshops, and deepen interfaith partnerships. I pledge my continued support as we pursue a more united, peaceful, and prosperous nation,” he said.
