Enugu Rangers have vowed to end the ambition of ASC Kara of Togo in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup competition later today, when both sides clash in the decisive leg of the play round for tickets to the group stage of the competition billed for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
The Flying Antelope lost 2-1 to the Togolese champions in the first leg of the fixture in Lome, the Togolese capital, and will look to turn the table against the visitors at the ‘Cathedral’, nickname for the Enugu stadium.
Coach Benedict Ugwu will miss the services of the trio of Pape Sane Ousmane, Issif
Traore and Ajani Ibrahim who are all injured, but remains confident that the rest of his charges will get the job done today to ensure that Rangers books a ticket to the lucrative stage of the continent’s second tier club championship.
“I’m confident that we shall get the win that will take us to the group stage. No doubt, we expect them to come out to stop us, but they shall meet a very different and resolute side than they saw in Lome. We’ve done our beat as humans, and all we desire is the crown of glory by God almighty. We will be in the group stage at the end of the match on Sunday,” the coach said.
Corroborating his head coach, captain of the Flying Antelope, Temitope Olusesi, said: “We have seen them (A.S.C.K) play and I give them credit for their win in Lome, but we have resolved to stop them and pick the group stage ticket. We expect a difficult match, but we shall come out with the win that we desire to appreciate our fans for their support.”
And in faraway South Africa, Enyimba International will go for the broke against TS Galaxy inside the main bowl of the Mbombela Stadium.
