The Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering sustained value to the insolvency profession and the wider society.

The outgoing President of BRIPAN, Chimezie Victor Ihekweazu, made the pledge at the association’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where a new president was inaugurated alongside 124 associates and 15 fellows who were inducted.

Ihekweazu said the past two years marked a significant journey for the association, driven by dedication, collaboration, sacrifice and a shared resolve to strengthen insolvency and business recovery practice in Nigeria.

He highlighted BRIPAN’s engagements with key stakeholders, including insolvency practitioners, banks, financial institutions, government, and regulatory agencies, as well as its capacity-building initiatives, growing membership, and increased local and international visibility.

Ihekweazu said the administration deliberately focused on expanding membership, deepening professional excellence, strengthening institutional partnerships, and reinforcing BRIPAN’s position as Nigeria’s leading authority in insolvency and business restructuring.

“I am proud to say that we set our goals, achieved them, and in many cases surpassed our initial expectations,” he stated.

He expressed confidence in the incoming President and Chair of Council, Albert Folorunsho, noting that the foundations laid would support a new phase of growth, innovation, and impact for the association.

In his acceptance speech, Folorunsho thanked members for the opportunity to serve and pledged to further build BRIPAN’s institutional credibility. He said his administration would position the association not only as a professional body, but also, as a thought leader and trusted partner in Nigeria’s economic development.

He outlined key strategic priorities, including professional excellence and ethics, capacity building and talent development, enhanced stakeholder engagement, and law reform and advocacy. Folorunsho also urged members to remain actively involved in the association’s activities, stressing that BRIPAN’s success depends on collective participation and support.

Presenting the financial report for the year ended December 31, 2024, Treasurer, Alao Bolanle Adejoke, disclosed that BRIPAN recorded a strong financial performance, reflecting prudent resource management, and increased member engagement. She noted that the association remains financially stable, with strengthened reserves supported by consistent surpluses and prudent investments.

Looking ahead to 2025, Adejoke said BRIPAN plans to strengthen revenue streams through training programmes, conferences, and membership growth, invest in digital platforms to enhance member services, and maintain fiscal discipline, in line with its strategic objectives. She added that the association is well positioned to sustain its mission of advancing insolvency practice in Nigeria.
