Bet-9ja, a popular betting company in Nigeria has organized a five-a-side football competition for youths in Nsukka Local Government Area and it’s environs.
Mr. Celestine Okwudili, the Bet-9ja Supper Agent in the zone said that the aim of the tournament was to fish out football talents in the area and help them pursue a career in football.
Okwudili who spoke with Sunday Sun during the opening ceremony of the football tournament involving 20 registered teams in the area at Government Field Nsukka, urged participants to take the competition seriously as some of the world soccer stars were discovered and fished out in similar local tournaments.
Okwudili said that the competition would also help to keep the youths busy and away from crime.
“On December 1st when the finals would be played the team that comes first will smile home with N300,000, 2nd position will receive N250,000 while 3rd position will get N200,000.
“Bet-9ja started this tournament last year in Nsukka, we are doing it this year because it has become a yearly event.
In a remark, Chief Patrick Omeje, the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, commended Bet-9ja agent in the area for trying to fish out hidden talents in football which he said would help to discover more talents.
The opening match between Blue Star FC and Kulusie FC ended 3-2 in favour of Blue.
