The Apir Unit of Nigerian Automobile Technician Association (NATA), Benue State chapter, on Thursday, elected a Technician, Samson Numve, as Chairman to lead the association for the next two years.
Numve was returned winner in the election having polled 133 votes to beat his rivals, Orshi Nyam (33 votes) and Charles Daga (31 votes) vide an open secret ballot.
According to Numve, he was humbled by his election and would work with all the members of the association as he itemised six points’ agenda including security, welfare, death benefits, respect for members, road and electricity.
Numve told members of the association, in his acceptance speech, that he did not see himself as the best candidate but because its God’s will and thanked them for the confidence they have reposed in him.
All his rivals pledge their support for the success of his administration while noting that there is always a next time and called on all and sundry to support the administration for the overall benefit of NATA Apir Unit.
Meanwhile, the caretaker Committee Chairman and head of the electoral body, Samuel Eche said he was satisfied with the conduct of embers of the association before and during the election even as he thanked God for harkening to their demand for a peaceful election.
He pledged on behalf of his three member committee to support the new leadership to succeed while leaving their door open in an event of need for assistance.
