The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has condoled with the families of victims of an accident that claimed 10 lives in Ohimini local government area of the state.

A truck had crashed into a building in Okete community, Ohimini LGA in the early hours of today (Thursday), killing ten people.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor described the accident as a devastating tragedy.

Alia said, “It is with a heavy heart that I extend my innermost sympathies to the families smitten by the tragic accident that occurred in the Okete community, Ohimini LGA.

“The loss of ten precious souls in such a bloody accident is a devastating tragedy that has left our state in grief.

“In these sad moments, I assure you that the entire government stands in accord with you. We share in your grief, and our thoughts are with the bereaved families as they console this unbelievable pain.”

He added that the government is committed to ensuring that meticulous investigations are carried out to prevent such incidents in the future.

The governor prayed that the souls of the departed rest in peace and that Almighty God grants comfort and strength to the family members in the love and support of their friends and community.
