The North East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with the LOBITO group for Asiwaju, has donated farm inputs and implements to 4,200 farmers across 20 local government areas of Bauchi State to boost food security.

NEDC representative Mr Suleiman Aliyu stated at the inauguration ceremony in Katagum that the distribution aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to enhance food production and achieve food security in the country.

“The commission is collaborating with the LOBITO group and other stakeholders to support the farmers directly, in order to boost dry season farming and rain-fed farming,” Aliyu said.

The donated items include 3-inch water pumps, liquid fertiliser, agrochemicals, and improved seeds of maize and rice.

LOBITO Coordinator in Bauchi, Mr Usman Darazo, explained that the items would be distributed through LOBITO structures and stakeholders to 4,200 farmers across the state. He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the items judiciously.

Darazo commended the commission for the gesture, stating that the inputs and implements would positively impact farming and address food security concerns.

State Chairman of LOBITO Group, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Lanzai, emphasised the aim of supporting farmers to achieve bumper harvests. He commended LOBITO National Chairman Alhaji Yau Darazo for championing the cause of farmers in the state and stated that the present administration under President Bola Tinubu is committed to achieving the federal government’s food security program.

Earlier, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Contact Person, Dr. Yusuf Magalam, pledged support for the Bola Ahmad Tinubu administration to achieve its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Beneficiaries Aliko Musa Umar and Nbami Masoyi expressed gratitude for the gesture and pledged to use the inputs to boost their farming operations.

Another beneficiary, Malam Saidu Yana, from Shira Local Government, stated that the gesture came at the right time as farmers commence farm clearing. He expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that it demonstrates the Bola Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to tackling the food crisis in the country. He assured that the beneficiaries would utilise the inputs effectively to produce more food for the Nigerian population.
