Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has reflected on the possibility of becoming a pastor, recalling a joke he once made about the meaning of his nickname, P.Banks.
The entertainer shared the reflection in an Instagram post on Thursday, suggesting that his past joke about the title may have taken on a new meaning as he grows in his Christian faith.
“I used to joke that the ‘P’ in P.Banks stood for Professor, not Pastor. I guess God heard,” he wrote.
The post featured a video of Banky W performing a worship song centred on trusting God, even when His response differs from what a person expects.
The song explores the struggles that can come with waiting for answers to prayers and the realisation that what God provides may not always match one’s initial desires.
It also highlights the importance of surrendering personal expectations and trusting God’s plan rather than attempting to define how He should act.
Banky W’s reflection has drawn attention to the possibility of a deeper involvement in pastoral ministry, although his post did not explicitly announce that he had become a pastor or confirm a formal appointment.
Known for his career in music and entertainment, the singer has also increasingly used his public platform to share messages about faith, spiritual growth and purpose.
