Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, has revealed that she broke down in tears after her son left the Portugal national team camp last week.

Dolores described her reaction to the incident as one of shock, marking her first public comments on the controversy.

Ronaldo reportedly left the camp after remaining on the bench for the full 90 minutes of Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway in the UEFA Nations League.

The 41-year-old forward later claimed that his departure was prompted by a “breach of trust” between him and head coach Jorge Jesus.

“I feel sad, it’s normal. It was a shock, my son could have left through the main door and instead he left through the small door, but it’s okay, God will take care of it,” Dolores Aveiro said in a statement to TV 7 Dias.

“I cried a little. It’s good too, to let go. We have to turn this around.”
