The Attah of Igala land, Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, has conferred the traditional title of Ene-Umola Ata Igala on Prince Olatunji Olusoji.
The ceremony took place recently at the royal palace in Idah, the ancestral capital of the Igala kingdom, in Kogi State.
Speaking at the event, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by his deputy, Joel Salifu, commended the Attah Igala for his vision in honouring deserving individuals who impact society positively.
“Collaboration remains crucial in tackling security challenges and promoting social and economic prosperity across Kogi State,” the Governor remarked, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to working alongside traditional institutions to ensure peace and development.
Also speaking at the occasion, Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu og Mopa, including other key stakeholders echoed the same sentiments, noting that traditional titles serve as a call to higher service, bridging the gap between governance and grassroots development.
The ceremony was a masterful display of the deep-rooted customs of the Igala kingdom.
Highlights of the event include cultural displays, goodwill messages and traditional performances that showcased the enduring values, resilience and rich heritage of the Igala people.
With this investiture, Prince Olusoji takes on a significant role within the kingdom, where he is expected to use his influence to foster unity, champion economic growth and uphold the revered traditions of the Igala nation.
