At 11th Edition of the BCI  walk for the Cure 2023, HRM  Dr. Ihenetu commends Dr. Beatrice  cancer awareness initiative

In his total support  for awareness  on early detection  and cure for cancer, the Eze Ndigbo  Ghana and Assistant Publicity Secretary Ndieze Ndigbo in the Diaspora, HRM  Eze Dr Chukwudi Ihenetu, joined thousands  who thronged the city of Accra for the 11th Edition  of the BCI Walk for the cure, a cancer awareness initiative  of Chief Dr Mrs. Beatrice  Waife Addai, fully supported by the Ezeigbo Foundation.

The event, which took place on Saturday 7th, attracted  people from all walks of life as it cut across, students, security agents, traders , palace chiefs, and members of Diplomatic  Corps.

In their thousands, they walked, danced, and in one voice created awareness about cancer in all its forms.

On why  he participated in the walk, HRM  Dr Ihenetu  said cancer is a killer disease that has ravaged Africans for centuries, adding that even though the disease  is deadly,  early  detection could  lead to  a cure.

“I am happy  to be part of this initiative put forward  by Dr Beatrice to create awareness  about cancer. Today, people in their thousands thronged the street of Accra to boldly tell people  about cancer, its effect, and cure. I am delighted  that many people  today  have come to know that cancer is not a death sentence when detected  early.”

Speaking  about other advantages  of the health  walk, HRM Dr. Ihenetu  said the exercise enables  participants to burn calories. “ It will enable  those who took part to be mentally and physically  fit.”

While commending  Dr Beatrice for her service  to humanity,  HRM Dr Ihenetu, Global Peace Ambassador  and philanthropist of repute said It was in recognition of her numerous service to humanity that she was honoured with Chieftaincy title in  Obi Ukwu Obieziokwu palace.

“She is a surgeon, cancer expert who has operated on over 900 women in Ghana and other parts of Africa. She also has a cancer survival group. Through this group she created, Chief Dr Mrs. Beatrice is able to reach out to cancer survivors and support them to move on with their life. She takes care of their  drugs and even feed some.

“One of the things that prompted me to honour her with chieftaincy is because there are some Nigerian she operated on for free. That was why Obieziokwu palace honoured her with the title of Nnediora nma which means good mother to all.

“Again, she is also taking care of cancer survival children. That is children who have lost their parents to cancer. There are over 100 of such children that she is taking care of.

“In fact, her platform is known to former President, John Kuffor who is also a life patron of the Foundation, President John Mahama has joined the health walk before, President Kuffor Ado and ‘who is who’ in Ghana because  Dr. Beatrice has over 30 years of experience. She also has her own hospital. the good news from Dr. Beatrice to the world is that cancer is curable if discovered early.

Eze Igbo Ghana added his voice to that of Dr. Beatrice that every woman regularly goes for breast examination to check for lumps that could be cancerous.

“They should also check for cervical cancer so that early treatment can start. We are also calling on the government to support Dr. Beatrice initiatives by also doing free screening and tests. This will go a long way to save lives.” His Majesty concludes.

While commending those who turned up for the exercise,  HRM Dr. Ihenetu  assured that he would continue  to support any arrangements that would help save lives.
