The Nigerian Army will commence training code named `Exercise Crocodile Smile’ in 82 Division and part of 2 Division’s areas of responsibility traversing the South-South geo-political region at the weekend.

This is contained in a statement given to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, in Abuja on Thursday.

Usman said the aim of the exercise “is to practice its Special Forces and other units of the Army in Amphibious and Internal Security Operations in riverine environment.

“It is also to check criminal activities like kidnapping, militancy, piracy and other forms of criminal activities.’’

He added that the exercise “is in support of the civil authority.’’
He told the general public not to panic on the sight of unusual movement of large number of troops, heavy military weapons and equipment in these areas.
