Arewa journalists commend Gov Eno over youth empowerment

By Brown Chimezie

The arewa Journalists Forum (AJF), in collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analyst (NISMA) has commended the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umoh Eno, for the N400 million business support grant to 800 youths.

The AJF described the grant as unprecedented in the region, adding that the N20 billion so far released for the payment of gratuities of civil servants, both dead and alive, was a clear testimony of his desire to support the economies of families.

“He has empowered 400 entrepreneurs. We, the Arewa Journalists Forum, present Governor Umoh Eno to the nation as a workable model, exemplary, and a shining example of good leadership; a light that attracts good governance.

“This is unprecedented in any part of Nigeria, and we are proud to identify with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.”

According to the Secretary General, Mr. Abraham Sule, the AJF is an umbrella organisation of all journalists of Northern Nigeria extraction, irrespective of the state and location of their practice. It is spread across the country.

Sule said: “We are advocates of good governance and responsible

leadership, and we strive to keep leaders on their toes, commending those who deserve it as a way of encouraging others, and objectively criticising those who fall below expectations in order to make them sit up.

“Hence, we will continue to track developments and highlight such wherever they are found, irrespective of region and religion.

“We are poised to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the onerous task of catalysing meaningful development to drive positive change for the betterment of the masses.

“We have made our assessment on the performances of Mr Umoh Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and come out with the position we have unanimously taken.

“Based on the reports from our partnership with NISMA, and our

members, most of whom are resident in different states, and the media reports we have monitored over time, we are thrilled by the accomplishments of Governor Eno.”
