A 17-year- old apprentice, Godspower Adarugbe, who allegedly conspired and raped his neighbour’s daughter, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, who resides at Agbole Compound, Igando, a suburb of Lagos, is facing two counts charge of conspiracy and rape.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offences were committed on July 15 at the accused residence.

Donny said that the accused invited his friends to his room and lured in his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter.

“The accused and his other accomplice gang-raped the girl,” he alleged.

Donny said that the accused and his friend left the house to an unknown place.

“All efforts to see them failed until the accused was sighted and apprehended by the girl’s brother.

“The case was reported at the police station,” he said.

The offences contravened Sections 259 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Folakemi Davies-Abegunde granted a bail of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum to the accused.

Davies-Abegunde adjourned the case until Aug. 28 for mention. (NAN)
