The Kano State Police Command, yesterday, said it has deployed adequate personnel and equipment to strategic locations to protest lives and property in the state.
It made the announcement against the backdrop of the forthcoming appeal court judgement on the governorship election in the state.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the move was aimed at forestalling any attempt to cause disturbance or breakdown of law and order in the state in the wake of the judgment.
“While the police and security agencies in the state are assuring the good people of the state of adequate security before, during and after the declaration of the appeal court judgment, residents of Kano State are also expected to play their part in avoiding to be involved in the breakdown of law and order,” the statement read.
The police cautioned against politically motivated clustering of people at some locations under whatever guise, saying such gatherings would not be allowed during this period.
“Engaging in mass actions, suggesting preparation for violent processions, protests or celebrations that may trigger reactions should be avoided,” the statement further stated
The police also outlawed unguarded statements from politicians, saying anything that is likely to increase unnecessary tension or undermine the security arrangements and the sanctity of the judicial system should be avoided.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to persons with disabilities in the state to pray for his electoral victory at the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja.
He made the appeal during the distribution of 8,800 bags of grains to persons with disabilities in the state.
The Court of Appeal had reserved judgement in the appeal initiated by Governor Yusuf against the judgement of the tribunal, which favoured Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Represented by his deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, he disclosed that the gesture was part of his social policy, adding that his administration would continue to churn out policies that would promote the welfare of the citizenry.
The beneficiaries included the blind, deaf and dumb, crippled persons, orphans and widows of security personnel drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.
The Governor lauded the committee on palliatives headed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, for their transparency and commitment towards ensuring that the palliatives reached the intended beneficiaries.
He announced that each beneficiary would get a bag of rice and a bag of maize, while tasking the members of the committee to be fair to all during the distribution.
He assured that his administration would continue to promote human development, as well as prioritise the welfare of the people of the state, irrespective of their social status.
