The Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Training Command (ATC), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Esen Paul Efanga, has conducted an operational assessment visit to Nigerian Air Force Base Kainji as part of efforts to sustain operational efficiency in ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

The visit, which took place on January 29, 2026, was aimed at evaluating the operational readiness, force protection measures and mission execution capabilities of units deployed in the area. It also formed part of routine command-level oversight designed to ensure optimal employment of air power in support of national security operations.

During the visit, AVM Efanga reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to maintaining a decisive operational edge in all theatres of engagement. He emphasised that the Service remains focused on delivering effective air power in line with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff for a people-centric, capability-driven and mission-focused Nigerian Air Force.

The AOC reviewed the activities of the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 3, where he commended personnel for their professionalism, discipline and sustained high operational tempo. He noted that their efforts continue to play a crucial role in degrading insurgent capabilities and stabilising affected areas.

As part of the assessment, a precision show-of-force mission was conducted to demonstrate the readiness and responsiveness of air assets stationed at the base. The exercise showcased the Nigerian Air Force’s ability to project power swiftly and decisively whenever called upon.

Addressing personnel, AVM Efanga affirmed that NAF Base Kainji remains strategically positioned and fully mission-ready, adding that the base continues to operate from a position of strength in support of national security objectives.

Quoting the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, he declared that “the Nigerian Air Force will continue to apply air power decisively, relentlessly and with precision to secure the nation, protect critical assets and deny hostile elements any freedom of action.”

The AOC assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Air Force remains in firm control of the operational environment and will sustain its momentum until lasting peace and security are achieved.

The visit also provided an opportunity for interaction with officers and airmen at the base, boosting morale and reinforcing confidence in the Service’s leadership and strategic direction.

AVM Efanga concluded by reaffirming the unwavering resolve of the Nigerian Air Force to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria through effective and professional air operations.
