KANO State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi.
Dr Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, who is a confidant of the immediate past governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was one of the most powerful men in the last administration in the state. In place of Bichi, a former secretary to the defunct National Republican Convention and a leading political figure from Kano South, Alhaji Usman Alhaji has been appointed.
Also affected in the shakeup is the Director General, Media and Communication, Government House, Alhaji Halilu Baba-Dantiye, who is now the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
A statement signed by the Kano State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad Na’iya, further disclosed that the governor had equally approved the appointment of six new permanent secretaries and redeployment of six others. According to the release, Governor’s Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Usman Bala, is now to head Ministry of Health as a permanent secretary. Others were Hajiya Bilkisu Waziri, Dr Saadatu Bala, Danladi Garba, Aminu Mohammed and Aliyu Sani.
Those affected by the redeployement included: Abdullahi Musa from council affairs to cabinet office, Aminu Shuaibu from Government House to Council Affairs, while Mahmud Bare has been redeployed to Servicom Directorate, Ministry of Land and Physical Planning. Others were Baballe Ammani from Statistician General office to ministry of Planning and Budget, Abba Ladan from Ministry of health to Government House and Mohammed Yusuf who moved to ministry of land and physical planning from Commerce and Industry.
The statement stated that the appointments and redeployments were with immediate effect, while handing over formalities should be completed within one week.
