Ahead 2027, a member of the House of Representatives (Yagba Federal Constituency, Kogi State), Leke Abejide has initiated moves to empower one million Yorubas across the 44 LGAs of Kano State.
Abejide disclosed this at the palace of the Oba of Yoruba in Kano shortly after unveiling a 27-member committee assigned to coordinate the empowerment and mobilization of members of the Yoruba community in the state.
He explained that the initiative was part of efforts to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He added that the initiative was targeted at widows, the less privileged, vulnerable persons, youths, women, artisans, entrepreneurs and other categories of Yoruba residents in the state.
He charged the committee to be transparent and fair stressing that the success of the initiative entirely rests on their capacity to reach the intended beneficiaries.
The lawmaker also said his relationship with Kano State went beyond politics, describing Kano as a place where he lived, did his business and built lasting relationships.
The Coordinator of the Committee, Seyi Olorunsola, assured that his committee would work collectively to achieve the objectives of their assignment
While lauding the legislator for his foresight, he maintained that the empowerment would engage Yoruba residents across state, strengthen community participation and provide economic support to thousands of families, particularly widows and the less privileged.
