Founder of Peace Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative (PD, PDI) and Khairat Animashaun Initiative (KAI), Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye, has tasked the youths the need to promote peace and development in their environment.
She made the call at a community lecture and empowerment programme tagged, “Engaging Festac Youths in the Promotion of Peace and Development,” which was held on Saturday in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Stressing that it was an initiative to drive peace and development among the Nigerian youths for a greater tomorrow, she said: “I love my people and my communities and it is time for us to show our hidden sincerity and help each other so that we can return hope and dignity to our societies. Only you and I can make a difference.”
Kicking off the programme at her constituency in Festac, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain stated that her vision was to create a more sustainable socio-political, economic, cultural and physical environment for Lagosians and Nigerians at large.
She assured that she would not stop until she has created an enabling environment for peace and development using the youths as the driving force.
“Today is a good day because the decision to have this event was almost spontaneous. I have been residing in Festac with my parents, Alhaji Bashiru and Alhaja Aminat Animashaun since 1977. We know how our communities were structurally, culturally and socially built and we can all testify to how they are today. Positive Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative was created in 2015. The idea to create it was born some seven years ago, specifically on September 9, 2015,” she said.
She noted that the vision was also to create a more egalitarian society and encourage girl child education, as well as to promote peace, welfare and safety in the environment and among young people.
“It is also meant to equip the youths with simple employable skills for them to be job creators rather than job seekers, so they can also lead responsible lives. These and others were the aspirations of Positive Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative (PD, PDI) which also gave me the opportunity to register a sister organization in the USA,” she added.
She said other visions of the programme were to educate the youths on the dangers of drug abuse, promote moral and ethical values in the society, and ensure equitable development for the rural inhabitants and the poor urban dwellers, especially women and children.
Commenting about the programme, some of the guests at the event, said: “It is high time we engaged the youths at different times in Lagos State and beyond with different positive initiatives, in order to get better results for a better, stronger and inclusive society like never before in Nigeria.”
Youths and representatives from different wards in the communities with the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area who graced the occasion, where Animashaun-Ajiboye offered monetary support to some small-scale businessmen and women as part of the empowerment programme, even as she asked some others to submit their business plans to the chairmen of the wards in the area for evaluation and support.
