The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it was battle ready to sack the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) government from Anambra State in the November 18 governorship election.
Running mate of the APC candidate, Dr. Tony Nwoye, Mr. Dozie Ikedife (Jnr), declared this, on Tuesday, when he visited the Obi of Umudim, Nnewi, Obi Benneth Okafor, with some of his party stalwarts as part of the party’s steps to sensitise Nnewi people of the need to give one hundred percent support to the APC which, he said, was poised to beat the current Governor Willie Obiano administration in terms of development of Anambra State and welfare of the citizenry.
Ikedife (Jnr), who is son of former President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, told the audience that they should not allow anyone to deceive them with the propaganda that APC is an Hausa party, saying that the party is a national party.
He noted that it was high time the Igbo identifies with a party that would ensure real integration of the ethnic nationality in the Nigerian nation.
He made it clear that Anambra people should not continue to dwell in the wrong impression that APGA is an Igbo party while the party’s presence had not been felt beyond Anambra State and had nothing to offer to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
“Willie is working is a deceit. Construction of roads is no longer a big deal for a government to beat its chest that it has done a lot for the people. You don’t erect bill boards here and there and make claims in the media that you have done this and done that. Those things done must be seen, not just mere claims.
“Our government will definitely surpass the Obiano administration in every ramification outside from road construction, even though he has not proved his lot in that regard, and other basic amenities. And you know that the APC flag bearer is still a young man, very vibrant and full of ideas. He will undoubtedly make a significant difference in governance. Any day Obiano and his team will come to Nnewi let him point to you projects he did for you. Nothing. Absolutely, nothing. It is not an overstatement to say that APGA government is a failure. So, he has no moral justification to ask for your votes,” he submitted.
He explained that the APC government would ensure that the primary health care system is revitalised in Anambra with free antenatal care to pregnant women and nursing mothers. He said that the APC government would bring free compulsory primary and secondary education in the State as well as set up technology centers in all the twenty one local government areas in the State, among numerous other democracy dividends.
The Obi of Umudim, in response, assured Ikedife Jnr. that he as their son, the Nnewi people would be pleased to have him in Government House, Awka as the deputy governor for Nnewi.
The Obi and all his cabinet members later jointly prayed for Ikedife for a successful outing in the election project.
