A group under the auspices of Akpokuodike Action Group for Continuity (AAGC) has endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for second term in office in the November 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

The group which is working to actualise the second term bid of the governor said that its support for Obiano was based on his numerous achievements, which include prompt payment of workers’ salaries, security of lives and property among others.

According to AAGC, other achievements recorded by the governor in over three years include massive agricultural development through the production of rice, scent leave, vegetable and yam for export; infrastructural development through the construction of roads and flyover bridges, housing scheme for workers etc.

The state chairman of the group, Mr. Michael Nwofia while addressing the members at Iyiora Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, said that the decision of the group to endorse the governor was borne out of his sterling and unprecedented performance in office.

Nwofia, the effective security network put in place in the state which hitherto was a haven for armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

His words: “Governor Obiano should be allowed to go for second tenure because he has done well within the few years he has been in office.

He has done well in the area of security, nobody has done much since the creation of the state in the area of security within a few months of his administration.

“In Anambra state now we are only hearing about kidnapping in other states of the federation but in the state it is no longer obtainable here. Secondly, one can sleep with both eyes closed since Obiano came on board.

“Before the governor assumed office we were witnessing all sorts of crimes ranging from daylight robbery, night robbery and bank robbery but since he came on board he has given them hard chase out of the state and crime has reduced to the barest minimum” Nwofia stated.
