Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the extension of tenures of Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen of the 21 local government areas and their councillors for another three months.

Speaker of the Assembly, Hon Somtochukwu Udeze, at plenary, read out the letter from Governor Chukwuma Soludo requesting the consideration and confirmation of their tenure.

Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, who is the member representing Ekwusigo constituency, moved a motion for their consideration and confirmation and was seconded by Honourable Golden Iloh of Ihiala two constituencies.

The Speaker, while congratulating the TC Chairman, urged them to double their efforts towards making sure that the vision and mission of the state governor was achieved.

“I urge you all to remain focused. You all need to face your duties and avoid areas of conflict.

“We all are playing towards one goal post and as such, you as TC Chairmen and Councillors should localize all the agendas of Governor Soludo down to the grassroots,” he said. The TC Chairman of Ayamelum, Livinus Onyenwe, in his response, assured that they would do everything within their powers to attract dividends of democracy down to the grassroots.
