To significantly improve Nigeria’s food security, Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Ltd. has acquired 1,800 acres of land from UAC of Nigeria PLC in Maya, Ibarapa Local Government, Oyo State. The deal, completed on March 4, 2025, signifies a substantial investment in sustainable farming, livestock production, and local economic growth.
This expansion strengthens Amo Farm’s goal of providing Nigerians with affordable, high-quality animal protein. The project will concentrate on seed production, animal feed for ruminants, broiler and beef farming, and training programs for farmers, all designed to enhance food availability, create jobs, and support local populations.
Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, Group Managing Director of Amo Farm, explained the company’s vision regarding the acquisition: “We plan to build a facility capable of producing 1.2 million broilers, along with a modern broiler and beef processing plant, multiple hatcheries, fish farms, and a dam. This investment demonstrates our commitment to building a self-sufficient system that not only increases food production but also aids Nigeria’s agricultural industry.”
Oduntan also emphasized the crucial role of agriculture in Nigeria’s future: “Agriculture is the most critical factor for Nigeria’s long-term stability and development, and we, as a leading agricultural company in Nigeria, are determined to spearhead that effort.”
Mr. Obinna Ede, representing UAC of Nigeria PLC, stressed the importance of community support for successful farming: “When we operated here, the community was always essential to our growth. It is a peaceful community, and I am confident Amo Farm will grow even more than we did.”
The acquisition event was attended by Amo Farm’s executives, financial partners, industry professionals, and government representatives. The local leaders, Baale Kareem Oyedotun and Hon. Lateef Odediran, welcomed Amo Farm and pledged the community’s support for the expansion. They also requested that the company provide employment opportunities for residents, thereby enhancing the economic and social benefits of the investment.
This land acquisition represents a significant advancement for Amo Farm, increasing its capacity to meet Nigeria’s rising demand for protein while promoting economic development in Oyo State and beyond. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and community involvement, the company aims to improve food security, generate employment, and shape the future of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
