Mrs. Ihuoma Roseline Ndimele
The leadership of Amadeus University, Amizi has announced the appointment of Prof. Mrs. Ihuoma Roseline Ndimele as its maiden Pro-Chancellor and Chair of the University’s Governing Council. Prof. Ndimele is a prominent scholar and administrator, and she brings a wealth of experience garnered over decades of an illustrious career in academia to the leadership of Amadeus University. She is currently the Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies, Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, Abia State, and has previously served as the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, ABSU. Over the course of her career, she has headed various departments, institutions and centres, has also made substantial contributions to public service, serving as a Commissioner overseeing the Ministries of Women Affairs, Youth and Development as well as Lands, Survey and Urban Planning in different stints with the Abia State Government. Her commitment to education and community development is also demonstrated by her leadership and involvement with various socio-cultural groups such as Rotary International and Inner Wheel, and in her role as the Ugo Eze of Awomnuzie, Ikwuano, Abia State.
The University in the same vein announced the appointments of its Principal Officers, following approval from the Governing Council, and to that effect, Prof. Samuel M. Nzotta was announced as Vice-Chancellor, effective March 2024.
Professor Nzotta is renowned for his academic career in Finance, alongside extensive leadership experience in academic administration and industry, as well as a strong commitment to excellence. A noted researcher, he has written numerous publications in finance, management, and business administration, offering strategic insights for Nigerian industries and institutions. Prior to his appointment, Prof. Nzotta was a Professor of Finance in the Department of Financial Management Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), in addition to directorate-level roles he held across different organs and ventures in the University system such as the Nigerian-Israeli Centre for Management Studies, FUTO Microfinance Bank Ltd, FUTO Consult, and the FUTO Bookshop, among others.
He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Management and the Chartered Institute of Administration, as well as the International Academy of Business and Behavioural Sciences, and a member of various professional bodies.
Also appointed is Mr. Ernest O. Onuoha as Registrar: A distinguished leader in the field of university administration in Nigeria, Mr. Ernest Ozoemena Onuoha joins Amadeus University with over 33 years of exemplary service. With 16 years of experience as a substantive Registrar, Mr.Onuoha has the proven experience and adaptability to serve Amadeus University with unparalleled administrative excellence. Prior to his appointment in March 2024, Mr. Onuoha had served as Registrar, K. O. Mbadiwe University, Ideato, following stints at Eastern Palm University, Ogboko and Abia State University, Uturu. An alumnus of the University of Nigeria, he holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Measurement and Evaluation.
Also appointed as one of the principal officers by the university is, Dr. Ngozi Blessing Ukachi as the University Librarian: Dr. Ukachi, a renowned expert in library science and information management, joins Amadeus University from the University of Lagos where she served as Deputy University Librarian and Associate Professor. She led a transformative effort in the Medical Library, enhancing its resources and accessibility. Dr. Ukachi has held various leadership roles in library departments, including Research and Bibliographic Services, Cataloguing and Classification, and Africana, Newspaper, and Government Collections. A prolific scholar, she has numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals, focusing on improving access to health information, promoting information literacy, and leveraging technology to enhance library services. She is actively engaged in professional library associations at national and international levels, being a Past Chairperson of the Information Technology Section of the Nigerian Library Association and a Standing Committee Member of the Information Technology Section of the International Federation of Library Association (IFLA) for the past five (5) years. She brings all this expertise and leadership in digitalization to Amadeus University.
In the same vein, Mr. Augustine Ugorji was appointed as Bursar. His appointment takes effect from March 2024. Mr. Ugorji brings extensive experience in financial management and accounting to this critical role. Mr. Ugorji has a proven track record of success in the financial sector, with over 25 years of experience in various leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Financial Controller at SAANA Corporate Investments Management Limited, where he oversaw all aspects of financial operations.
Previously, he held the same position at PAY4ME Services Nigeria Limited. Mr. Ugorji holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and an Associate Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACIT).
Amadeus University Amizi was approved by the Federal Executive Council and licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in June 2023. The University is located in Amizi, Ikwuano LGA, Abia State, and is poised to begin academic activities in September 2024, following a successful resource verification by the NUC for the approval of its 19 degree programmes under four faculties – Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.
