From Fred Itua, Abuja
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is facing allegations of irregular promotion practices, leading to urgent calls for government intervention.
Accusations suggest that promotions were pre-determined and favoured certain individuals, with some receiving double promotions.
The absence of a board of directors is believed to have concentrated power in the hands of the Executive Secretary, Galadima Aminu, exacerbating the situation.
Aggrieved staff are increasingly demanding reforms and government action to ensure fairness and transparency in PTDF’s operations, aiming to address deep-rooted issues and restore confidence in the institution.
Attempts to get the management’s reaction, were unsuccessful, as multiple calls to PTDF spokesman Lawal Ibrahim went unanswered, as his number was permanently unreachable.
Below is a long message sent to Mr. Ibrahim to respond to the allegations raised.
“There’s a story concerning your agency that requires your urgent response. We called earlier but your line was off. Can you respond to the allegations of favouritism, tribalism, and discrimination within the PTDF’s promotion system?
“What exactly happened during the Chief Officers’ Course and subsequent examination that led to these allegations? How do you address the reports of double promotions for management members within a year?
“What changes, if any, has the current Executive Secretary, Alhaji Galadima, made to the promotion process? There are claims that Alhaji Galadima is planning another round of promotions despite vacancy limitations. Can you comment on this?
“Can you address the allegations that the system favours individuals from the northern region, thereby marginalizing others? How does PTDF plan to ensure a more equitable distribution of top positions?”
