Alleged police brutality: AIG to sanction erring officers

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu  Mohammed, yesterday  said appropriate sanctions would be meted on whoever  is found wanting upon completion of investigation into the alleged molestation of Erowo Ekere and her sister, Joy Ekere by officers from Oleh police.
A press statement signed by the zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Emeka Iheanacho, said the attention of the Assistant Inspector General of Police,  Zone 5 headquarters, Benin has decided to investigate the matter following a petition by Miss Erowo Ekere through her counsel, Odior and Co.
He said AIG had detailed a crack investigation team to investigate the matter and report same, stressing: “I wish to state that investigation into the matter is almost concluded. Appropriate sanction would be meted or applied as soon as the investigation police officer forwards his findings to the Assistant Inspector General of Police.
“Let me reassure that the AIG will soon come up with his findings and subsequently appropriate sanction to whoever that is found wanting, please.”
