The 5th edition of the Adeola Ajayi Foundation Camp is set to commence in Sango Ota, Ogun State with a total number of over 200 kids in attendance.
According to the initiator of the Camp, Adeola Ajayi, a former player of the Dodan Warriors Basketball Programme, the event is to give young kids in his hood an opportunity to play the game.
“I’m very glad that the foundation is able to stick to this Programme to this stage. This is where I come from and I cannot but do what I am doing to give hope to younger athletes. It is our hope that in subsequent camps, we will be able to do camps in Otta and Lagos. We have coaches that have a companied us to Nigeria and with our coaches in Nigeria to give our players the desired opportunities they can get.”
Coach Seyi Ahmed stated that the important aspect of the Camp is life after basketball. “The focus of this camp is not just about the game but giving a livelihood to the kids in different aspects of life and we’re glad that the kids are learning different skills that puts them at an advantage to be more independent.
“Some of them have learnt different trades and the Adeola Oluwatoyin Ajayi Foundation is following up on their development. Campers who need equipment are assisted and they are happy to be part of the camp.”
The camp runs from April 17-19, 2024 in Ota, Ogun State.
