Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has issued a stern warning against unscheduled visits to the state, particularly those likely to spark political gatherings, as the Easter period approaches.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia emphasized that he is not expecting any high-profile visitors, stating, “The Governor… wishes to inform the public that he is not expecting any August visitor to the state today.”
Alia, currently engaged in critical meetings with state stakeholders, urged groups or individuals planning to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps to first obtain written approval from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
“All individuals or groups intending to visit IDPs in Benue State must first seek and obtain written permission,” the statement read, cautioning that unapproved visits compromise safety and security.
The governor advised against any attempts to enter Benue without prior clearance, urging security agencies and the public to enforce the directive to maintain peace and order.
