Benue State Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has saluted workers in the state for their contributions to the state’s development, promising to prioritise their welfare on this 2024 May Day.

Aligning with the theme “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” Governor Alia highlighted his administration’s efforts, including renovating the State Secretariat and providing a dedicated 33KVA transformer for a healthy and conducive work environment.

He emphasised the continued payment of salaries, addressing owed arrears, promotions, allowances, and training, stating that worker issues remain a priority.

Governor Alia urged workers to embrace transparency, compassion, accountability, and sincerity, and to remain apolitical while supporting his efforts and delivering their assigned roles.

He wished all workers a happy celebration.

Civil servants Lois Agada, Yila Mathias, and Theresa Agba expressed appreciation for the prompt salary payments but requested the bulk payment of arrears to settle outstanding debts.
