Algeria has formally expressed interest in hosting a future edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), indicating a possible expansion of the African Union-backed music platform into North Africa.

The development followed a meeting in Abidjan between Algeria’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Mohamed Abdelaziz Bouguetaia, and the 9th AFRIMA Best African DJ winner, DJ Moh Green. During the visit, the artiste, accompanied by AFRIMA Associate Producer, Victoria Nkong, presented his AFRIMA trophy to the ambassador.

Commending the DJ’s achievement, Ambassador Bouguetaia said Algeria was open to exploring the possibility of hosting the continental awards in the future, noting that the artiste had made the country proud.

Nkong described the interest as a sign of AFRIMA’s growing relevance across the continent, noting that the platform was created to unite Africa through music and strengthen the creative industry.

DJ Moh Green said presenting his trophy to the ambassador was a proud moment and a reflection of the growing recognition of African music across governments and creative communities.

AFRIMA, organised in partnership with the African Union since 2014, celebrates musical excellence across Africa while promoting youth empowerment, tourism, and cultural diplomacy. Previous host countries include Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal.
