Incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in for another term of four years.
Aiyedatiwa, who was the deputy governor of the state during the second term of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu eventually became the governor of the state following the demise of Akeredolu.
He contested the governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and won the election, defeating the former deputy governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and candidates of other political parties, who contested the election.
Also sworn in alongside Aiyedatiwa yesterday, was the deputy governor of the state, Dr Olayide Odunlami.
Odunlami was appointed the deputy governor of the state for the first term when Aiyedatiwa became the governor of the state following the demise of Akeredolu.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, Aiyedatiwa promised that his administration would ensure monumental development across the state, saying that he was prepared to transform the state.
He said: “Today marks another incredible milestone in our democratic journey as a people with a shared vision and united for a common purpose. The vision and purpose for greater and a brighter future for us, our communities and our children.”
The Governor promised to lead and govern with the fear of God and utmost dedication to the progress of the state, assuring that, “we will prioritise the welfare of our people, particularly the most vulnerable among us – the poor, the sick and the marginalised.”
