The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, has been unveiled as a brand ambassador for Bebuzee, a US-based artificial intelligence-powered super app that recently launched in Nigeria.
Yakubu joins seven other Nollywood actors: Patience Ozokwo, Ebele Okaro, Zubby Michael, Destiny Etiko, Segun Arinze, Sani Danja and Jide Kosoko — who were signed as ambassadors during the platform’s launch in Lagos.
The endorsement comes ahead of the October 31 unveiling of the Actors Guild Community On-boarding platform, an initiative designed to create financial opportunities for AGN members through their creative content and online engagement.
Bebuzee said members who join the community would enjoy VIP status, while those who upload their content, attract fans and promote their creative businesses on the platform would receive instant payments for their posts.
The company said it was targeting more than one million members through the initiative.
Speaking on his appointment, Yakubu described the endorsement as a personal milestone, expressing excitement that it could open new income streams for actors.
He said the initiative was particularly significant because of his position as president of the guild, adding that practitioners needed to benefit more directly from the value they create in the film industry.
According to him, actors should not depend solely on mainstream artiste fees or earnings from platforms such as YouTube and other social media channels.
He said Bebuzee could provide an additional avenue for members to monetise their creative work and improve their financial wellbeing.
“The more they earn, the better it gets for them. They’ll be proud of their industry, they’ll be proud of their guild,” Yakubu said, adding that he was pleased the partnership had come during his tenure.
On plans for the Actors Guild Community On-boarding platform, the AGN president said the guild intended to bring as many members as possible onto the platform before its scheduled unveiling.
He explained that the initiative would allow members to share content and earn money from their contributions, while helping the community expand.
Yakubu said the guild was working towards onboarding a sizeable number of actors before the end of October.
The partnership is expected to provide participating actors with another digital channel to showcase their work, engage audiences and explore income-generating opportunities beyond conventional film production and distribution.
